Nature will be the major beneficiary as ecotourism grows as an industry, because those who take an ecotourism holiday will be helping to preserve the environment as they enjoy themselves. In fact, proponents of this relatively new field know that ecotourism education focuses on how travelers can conserve rather than exploit during their vacation trips.

As more and more people come to understand the importance of conserving nature rather than exploiting it, the damages to the environment are being avoided and repaired. A large percentage of the general population is now aware of the global warming issue as well as the animal and plant extinction problems worldwide.

In addition, the public is exposed to an increasing amount of information as ecotourism is marketed as an industry. Advertisements and travel seminars spread the word about remote regions of the world that are becoming ecotourism destinations. While these locations will not offer luxury accommodations, golf courses or amusement rides for the children, they will provide relaxation and education, along with the chance to make a difference with this important social issue.

Of course, the local populations of these areas will benefit economically, instead of suffering exploitation of the natural resources. In addition, the unique cultural aspects of local populations will be celebrated instead of marketed as a tourist spectacle. For example, the way Africa’s natural beauty is enjoyed will alter, to become an ideal focus for ecotourism.

Such environmentally and socially friendly holidays will take travelers to an area of the world where the natural world is quite different from any other place. But the emphasis will be on living and moving in this world, leaving it undisturbed, rather than taking pieces of it home or changing it. As many socially conscious travelers know, it is best to take nothing but photos and leave nothing but footprints.

One of the key factors in making ecotourism work is the reduction in number of man-made structures found in these remote and beautiful locations. Fewer buildings and more undisturbed plant and animal life are two goals of ecotourism. Proponents of this philosophy firmly believe that these goals can be reached while providing the local population sufficient revenue for their needs.

As more people learn about the possibilities of ecotourism, these wonderful parts of the world will become more popular as holiday destinations. If pursued sincerely, as a new type of vacation travel, ecotourism can be beneficial to all involved. The local population can thrive while traditions and customs survive. Travelers can relax and enjoy, while learning about, rather than exploiting, the local resources. Most important of all, the environment remains intact, preserved for future generations.

Hotel online booking websites run by online travel agents and the hotels themselves nowadays provide an easy solution for travelers to source for their ideal hotel and compare prices and facilities among different hotels with just a click of the mouse from the comfort of their own home. They provide a convenient and efficient solution for you to make informed decisions about which hotel to book based on your specific preferences and budget, even if you are looking for a hotel at the last minute. There are many benefits of booking hotels online, and we shall examine the different booking channels that reap these benefits.

Traditional hotel booking channels and how things have changed

There is a stark contrast between the common hotel booking procedures before and after the advent of these online booking websites. In the past, travelers had to either place their booking directly with the hotel or via a travel agent by writing, telephoning or visiting their office in person. This method was slow and tedious and the travelers had to give them more time to get back to them with more information.

However, now the online channel is much faster and efficient as all the information about the hotels, their facilities, rooms, location and images are readily available for viewing on these online booking websites. Furthermore, feedback and reviews can be exchanged much more readily with the comments function enabled on these websites, as well as on travel forums.

In addition, the booking engines that allow one to place his booking directly on these websites with an online credit card payment system makes the booking process much more efficient than before. Hence the turnaround time span for making a hotel booking has shortened dramatically.

Another benefit that guests who book their hotels online stand to gain is the ability to make last minute bookings in a convenient manner and as a result, enjoy the price rebates that hotels may implement to fill up these rooms.

Online travel agents – aggregators of useful hotel information

Online travel agents are a common and popular channel which travelers can place their hotel booking with, as these agents have access to a large database of information about the different hotel chains. This makes it easier for travelers to compare facilities, services and prices among different hotels. Multiple online agents can draw on this database to provide accurate room availability and rates to guests who book online. This in effect results in a comprehensive compilation of detailed information about different hotels that travelers can easily access when they visit these websites. This also generates increased competition among the online travel agents which might negotiate with the hotels for special rates to attract customers to book their hotels through their site and not others.

Booking directly on hotel websites – direct marketing to the consumer

An increasing number of hotel chains, especially the larger ones, are allowing guests to book directly on their websites which have attached booking engines, thus marketing their rooms, facilities and services directly to the consumer. There is also the opportunity for the hotel to incorporate its corporate identity and style into the design of its website to create a stronger online presence, impress new guests and reinforce loyalty, which cannot be done if they are just one of many hotels featured on an online travel agents’ website.

The main advantages of booking directly with these websites are allowing the hotel to implement its full cancellation policy, not requiring guests to place a deposit in most cases and not imposing an additional booking fee which might be charged by online travel agents.

Tips and recommendation for booking hotels online

The widespread proliferation of hotel online booking websites can present a tough choice if you are looking for a starting point to make your online bookings. There are many such websites out there but you should look for one that provides reliable and accurate information, is easy to use and has a secure online payment system, key attributes that not all booking websites may possess.

The Mission Beach area of San Diego is among the most popular beaches in San Diego, as it is a part of a larger group of beaches known as The Strand. Vacationing in this part of San Diego puts you and your friends and family in the heart of hundreds of activities, ranging from rollercoasters to beach-side relaxation spots. However, knowing the rules and regulations of the beach itself can help you and your party make the most of any leisurely visit. On the beach itself, the main lifeguard station is by Ventura Street, serving as a central hub of safety for beach-goers. During the summer, you may expect to see an increased safety presence. Additional stations are occupied during the summer months to accompany the expectations of increased traffic. If you need to find a lifeguard, they are present on the beach during the day-time only, beginning to stay at their posts at 9:00 a.m. Rip tides are a serious safety concern for San Diego beaches. Consult a lifeguard for safety tips, and be sure to swim as strongly as possible towards a lifeguard if you should find yourself caught in one.

While the beach itself is open for play and sunbathing, only certain portions of the water are for swimming and other portions are for surfing. Check with a lifeguard or nearby signs to check for the demarcations at your location. Surfing is only permissible at these specific locations. While you may enjoy swimming and surfing, the Mission Beach area is not ideal for scuba diving. Given the rough waters that make surfing so popular and the general lack of visible sea-life, scuba diving is not a major attraction for the beach.

You may want to enjoy an alcoholic beverage while on the beach, but, according to Mission Beach rules, alcohol is not permitted. The area is a popular family destination and sees heavy traffic during the summer months especially. On the other hand, the beach is surrounded by nearby stores and restaurants, and is also close to the vibrant nightlife that San Diego provides for visitors.

In the winter they’ll warm you up with free cookies and hot chocolate. In the summer they drape our hotels in hundreds of hanging baskets. They like flowers so much that each year they give away thousands of flower seed postcards to their guests upon check out. These are little things, maybe, but their guests tell them they make all the difference in the world.

Lanzarote is the furthest east of all the Canary Islands and its Swiss presence is evident with regards to its strict building regulation resulting in its orderly layout in terms of its villages. It has an interesting volcanic history which is available to see at one of its underground concert halls or maybe at its lava fuelled barbeques.

Due to the location of Lanzarote, the island benefits from year round tourism, and unlike some of the Spanish islands doesn’t just see holidaymakers for five or six months a year – sea temperatures reach about 75 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer months and 63 degrees Fahrenheit during the winter, with many tourists holidaying over Christmas and New Year, and some retirees opting to spend a month or more away from a British or German winter in the warmer climes of Lanzarote.

One thing Lanzarote doesn’t have to worry about when tourists leave the island is whether they will remember it or not – its volcanic history has left a landscape that some describe as ‘lunar’ – and love it or hate it the memories of a Lanzarote holiday are unlikely to be muddled with another destination. Quite an advantage for when people are considering a return visit – and repeat tourism is the magic ingredient in making a location popular year in year out.

Lanzarote holidays appeal to both families and to retired couples, many of whom take more than the traditional week or two with time spent in Lanzarote to escape their winters back home, and for those with families Lanzarote does offer a good number of attractions to keep children happy.

The Guinate Tropical Park and Penguin Paradise near Haria offers a very unique array of wildlife. The penguin enclosure, Penguin Paradise is a spectacle in itself. The underwater viewing pool gives visitors the unique experience of seeing the behaviour of penguins while they are underwater. It’s great for children to see how these incredible birds behave in their natural habitat.

For anyone considering visiting Lanzarote for the first time, and worried that the island might be overdeveloped, the good news is that strictly enforced building regulations have helped maintain the beautiful beaches and landscapes on Lanzarote. The same regulations ensure that there are no annoying billboards or high-rise buildings.

And when considering which area of the island to stay in, HolidayVillasInLanzarote.Co.uk has an excellent selection of holiday accommodation to suit all tastes ranging from budget Lanzarote apartments to luxury Lanzarote villas, beach villas and villas with pools situated not only in the main Lanzarote holiday resorts including Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise and Puerto Calero but also many of the less well known idyllic, rural locations around the island. For visitors that prefer to experience a true taste of this island paradise away from the normal tourist hot spots they also have an impressive selection of rural villas in Lanzarote as well as a selection of rural apartments. Their rural collection will really help you get the truly relaxed feeling of the island amidst the outstanding volcanic landscape that Lanzarote is famous for.

Often regarded as more upmarket, Playa Blanca was once a small fishing port. In recent years it has developed into the second largest resort on Lanzarote. Playa Blanca is very popular with families due to its size and many family-friendly beaches. Two more beaches were recently added to Playa Blanca to help make up for the lack of space on the main central beach. Along the nicely manicured streets you will find several shops, restaurants and clubs. The resort offers many sports and attractions for guests of all ages.

Some other ways to find a cheap car rental rates are to look online with the different various rental companies or to call rental car companies where you are going. You can find these by calling the rental car companies or to call the different airports and ask about where to get the best rental car rates. You can check into these rates and compare them to the online rates that you find and you can work towards getting the best rates that are possible. If you do this finding a cheap rental car rate is definitely possible and something that you can do with ease. There are also a number of things that you should look for when looking into finding a cheap car rental rate.

When looking into the different various issues of car rental rate there are several things that you will want to consider prior to doing your search. You will want to consider what type of car that you want and how you are going to be able to manage that type of car as well as what you will be using your vehicle for. Remember that being flexible with the type of car that you want there is something that you will need to do. This means that you should be able to think about how things are going. Further there are some things that you will want to check on. Basically by understanding that there are a lot of things that should be considered and thought about from the beginning you can get a cheap car rental rate.

When looking online the first thing that you will want to do is to check out several different travel websites to get the best rates. Then you will want to check out the company itself and see if the rate is better without the overhead that the travel websites sell. Sometimes the actual company might have better rates and yet other times the travel websites will have better rates. You can also call the car rental company that you would be using at the location and give them the best rate that you found and see if they would beat that rate. Remember that getting a cheap car rental rate is something that should be easy for you and not something that you should have to work too hard.

Some of the best auto rental companies in the world can provide you with a great resource for vacation destinations. Some rental car companies may charge a small fee for different pick-up and drop-off locations. There are many different car rental agencies that offer many different models of cars. However if you need the car delivered anywhere within the city just let us know and we will deliver it to you. However if you own a car yourself than the insurance for your car often carries over towards a rental car.

You know what you want to pack as far as your wardrobe for your cruise vacation, but here are the little essentials that you might not think about.

One very important thing to pack is a Wall Mount Power Outlet with 3 Outlets. Electrical Outlets in the cruise cabins are very stingy and if you want to dry your hair while your curlers are heating up you will have a problem.

When I pack, I put all of my clothes in Dry Cleaners plastic bags. These will keep your clothes from wrinkling. Pack anything that can spill in zip lock bags.

An international power converter and a currency converter will be needed for European Cruises. Some people pack a night light for the bathroom. I have found if you leave the bathroom light on and close the door it is sufficient to guide you there in the middle of the night.

We pack a portable CD player with 20 CD’s and an alarm clock. We pack “two way” radios so we can communicate when we are in different parts of the ship. I like to sleep in when we go to the Caribbean and John likes to get up and have breakfast. He quietly lets himself out of the cabin, and when I get up I call him to let him know its “safe” to come back to the room.

In colder climates you will need a jacket and some long sleeve shirts. I always pack sturdy hiking boots if we go to Europe or Alaska. (Most of the time I wear them on the airplane with slacks since they take up so much room in the suitcase). They come in very handy when touring Europe’s sometimes centuries old cobblestone streets. When you go to Europe you will probably visit churches, and other religious buildings and proper attire must be worn-no sleeveless tops, no shorts and in some places a head covering. In Thailand it was necessary to remove our shoes before entering their holy places. You are in some else’s country and must abide by their rules. No matter where you are headed remember that cabins are small and have little closets and drawers. This is an important fact to know when you are packing.

Bring all of your toiletries, film, in-cabin wine, lotions, medications and dental care products from home. They will be quite pricey on the ship. If you have an on going medical problem have your doctor write a brief medical history so you can supply it to the ships doctor if a problem should arise. You should also pack things like, Alka Seltzer, constipation relief, cough drops, aspirin and band aids. Make up a little first aid kit that suits your needs. Don’t laugh, you will probably be trying new foods, eating more than usual, and you never know how you will react. Those items mentioned above are expensive on the ship.

A few things that are handy are clothes pins for weighing down the shower curtain (the showers are small and the curtain will stick to you when your wet. This really gives me the creeps). A highlighter is great for highlighting the activities on your daily cruise sheet. The night before highlight the events you want to participate in and all you have to do is glance at the sheet to know where you want to be and when. Tell your room steward on the first day to leave you two daily cruise sheets so each of you will have one. This way if one of you wants to go to the wine tasting and the other wants to join in the art auction you both know where and when. Then when it’s over, call each other on the two way radios and meet up for a drink or lunch or whatever. Another valuable little item is “post it notes” if you don’t have the two way radios. Just write on the post it where you are going and at what time and then stick on the outside of the cabin door. Presto your traveling partner knows where you are and when to expect you back. This is great for parents traveling with children.

Cruise Tip: Pack business cards with your email address on them. You meet all kinds of interesting people that you will want to stay in touch with. Some of our best friends are people we met on cruises, friends we continue to cruise with. I like to pack computer generated address labels to make it easy to send postcards.

I read this tip in several cruise reviews. Send a postcard to yourself. I have postcards from all over the world with the local stamps that I have sent to our home during each of our exotic cruises. I have a stamp from the CCCP – that was the USSR- years ago. Its fun and you will always get a chuckle when the post card catches up to you after you are home.

It is a smart thing to bring along your cell phone (which means the charger too). If you incur delays you can call your Travel Agent and have her call the cruise lines. You can make phone calls while you’re leaving port on the ship, and in some islands. The islands I have found to be cell phone friendly are the

Bahamas, Bermuda, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Grand Cayman. It’s great for phoning for a cab to the airport, or getting in touch with friends when you disembark. On the islands that do provide service you won’t have to wait in long lines (pay phones on the islands is where the crew keeps in touch with home). It’s just a handy thing to do and would be invaluable in an emergency.

Please don’t forget a good sunscreen if you are going to the Caribbean. If you are from the colder climes and have not seen the sun in awhile you will

NEED it. Even in Alaska you have to wear a sunscreen.

Lastly, don’t forget your camera. Put this in your carry on, do not pack it. I have a friend that went to Hawaii and video taped a wedding, packed the camera in her luggage and it was stolen on the way home. If it is digital camera take extra memory cards since you will be taking lots of pictures and the cards are more expensive once you leave home.

Follow this advice and you will have a very enjoyable and comfortable cruise.

Happy Cruising!
